The Shepherds Hut |
Bed and Breakfast with a Difference! The Shepherd's HutOur Shepherd’s huts are on our beef & sheep hill farm, located on the edge of our newly planted woodland, with views looking down the dales of the River Dove near the beautiful riverside hamlet of Milldale, where years ago sheep were washed in the Dove near the cobbled stone Viators Bridge. The origins of the Shepherd's Hut date back to the early 16th century. Made of wood with a curved corrugated iron roof, a stove, stable door and cast iron wheels, this was the living accommodation for the shepherd to tend his flock away from the main farmstead. Today, it's a romantic, relaxing and more rustic way to holiday. Enjoy your stay and share your experiences in our ecologically friendly Shepherd's Hut on our Peak District hill farm. Take a step back in time to the days of simplicity, with no electricity, television or internet. Just relax and unwind with nature on your door step. |
The huts are warm and cosy with their own small wood burning
stove, perfect for those cooler days and evenings. They have a built in
double bed with a luxury mattress and linen, with ample storage
space underneath. The toilets and showers are nearby, just a short
stroll from the shepherd's hut through the apple orchard into the Old Dairy. While away the evening while sitting out on the verandah with a glass of wine watching the sunset disappear behind the hills & dale or sip your morning tea and see the wildlife and farm animals come awake... |
