Rowsley

Country Parlour Cafe

Caudwell's Country Parlour first opened the doors of the old engine house at Caudwell's flour mill to a handful of customers.

Our visitors increased rapidly, thanks to glowing write ups in Sarah Brown's and other prominent vegetarian good food guides. We soon out-grew the thirty seater engine house!

We grasped the nettle (in more ways than one - our young shoot nettle soup is delicious) and built the 'new' Country Parlour using reclaimed materials wherever possible. Flags from Derbyshire cellars were used for the floor, pews and altar rails were saved from auction when a local church was sold and the beams and wood for the tables came from an old mill.

The lovely river setting has remained the same for centuries, making a visit to the Country Parlour a relaxing and rewarding experience.
