Alton Towers is probably the leading British Theme Park, with a range of spectacular rides and other attractions, including some beautiful gardens. The rides include Nemesis, Oblivion, the Corkscrew,and The Flume. There are numerous other attractions including many tailored especially for smaller children, plus a waterpark and a hotel/conference centre.

How to get there

By Road:
from Ashbourne take the A52 road signposted to Leek and Stoke, forking left for Stoke at Calton Moor. Turn left again onto the B5417 at Cauldon Lowe and then follow the signposts to Alton Towers. From Leek take the A523 Ashbourne road and turn right at Calton Moor. From Stoke the A52 leads to Cauldon Lowe, where you turn right onto the B5417, or the A521 from Longton takes you to Cheadle, where you join the other end of the B5417.

By Bus: the nearest bus service appears to be the 409 bus from Ashbourne to Uttoxeter via Denstone. This runs several times per day. From Denstone it is a walk of 4km along the Churnet Valley to Alton Towers.
When is it open?

Open all year from 9.30am - rides start at 10.00am. Closing times vary according to the season.
What does it cost?

Prices vary according to the time of year and its worth checking out the web site for the most up-to-date offers, multi-day and on-line booking discounts.

There is a discount for booking ahead, online. Prices rise considerably if you want to buy a ticket at the entrance.

Online prices for winter season day tickets for the Theme Park for 2017 are as follows: Adult £32, Children £27.50
