Birchover is a typical small Peak District village some 6 miles from Matlock and 5 miles from the market town of Bakewell.

Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House, Stanton Moor (the Nine Ladies stone circle is shown opposite below), Cratcliff Rocks and Robin Hood's Stride (shown opposite) are all within easy reach.

There are many beautiful walks in the area.

Unfortunately our one and only village shop has recently closed and the nearest one is in the next village of Winster which is approximately two miles away.  Otherwise visitors have to travel either to Bakewell (5 miles) or Matlock (7 miles).  There are two pubs in the village both serving good food, a playing field with climbing frame, swings, etc. and a Church..

There are swimming pools at Bakewell, Matlock and Chesterfield (15 miles distant) and a large fun pool at Sheffield (20 miles away).

There are golf courses at Matlock and Bakewell and multi-screen cinema complexes at Chesterfield and Derby (20 miles away).
